Located on Rue de l’Université in the heart of Paris, this apartment is the result of a thoughtful renovation by DFDI designed around the lives of its owners—a French-Chinese couple and their two dogs.

The project carefully preserves many of the home’s original architectural features, allowing the character and history of the space to remain intact. At the same time, a fresh layer of colour, contemporary detailing and bespoke interventions brings the apartment firmly into the present day.

The result is a home that feels both distinctly Parisian and deeply personal. Traditional mouldings and period proportions sit comfortably alongside modern furnishings, playful colour palettes and subtle references to the couple’s cultural backgrounds. Every room has been designed to support the realities of daily life, balancing beauty with practicality and creating a space that feels welcoming, lived-in and effortlessly elegant.

What emerges is not a contrast between old and new, but a dialogue between them—a bright, joyful home that respects its past while embracing the lifestyle of its current inhabitants.
